CK Schools Getting Even Better
Posted on 09/28/2016

Three cheers go out to Central Kitsap schools! PineCrest, Silver Ridge and Woodlands were all named 2016 Schools of Distinction.

The award is earned by only the top 5 percent of improving schools in the state. Reading and math scores at all three schools have consistently improved over the past five years.

This is the second year in a row that PineCrest has earned this designation.

“The progress our students and staff have made at these school is something we can all be proud of,” said Superintendent David McVicker. “It shows that our work to improve reading achievement, engage students, and give the right help to students who need it the most is on the right track.”

The Schools of Distinction awards are given by Center for Educational Effectiveness in partnership with the Association of Educational Service Districts, the Association of Washington School Principals, Washington Association of School Administrators, Washington State School Directors’ Association, and Washington State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Schools will be recognized by the Educational Service District 114 at an October school board meeting.
