CK and Business and Trades Council Leaders Sign AgreementWe are excited about the opportunities that a new agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Building & Construction Trades Council will bring to our students!

The district will lead three major construction projects starting in spring 2017. We are building an addition to Klahowya Secondary School, modernizing the central classroom and career areas of Olympic High and rebuilding Central Kitsap High and Central Kitsap Middle schools.

As part of that process, we are working with the council to recruit and refer our students for apprenticeship opportunities on those projects. About 15 percent of labor will be performed by apprentices.

A recent editorial from the Kitsap Sun stated, "Putting local kids in line for [local construction] work, in an environment that teaches skills that will last, is foresight that should be commended.

"The agreement between Central Kitsap and the trades council ... is a model for the rest of the state."
