School and library leaders sign agreement

We and Kitsap Regional Library agree that we’d be better together in Silverdale.

We’ll begin more detailed design work to renovate the part of Central Kitsap High known as the 900 building. We’ll use it for district offices, meeting areas and a public library.

School and library leaders signed an agreement Wednesday.

As for the Jenne-Wright Administration Center, we’ve been talking with area agencies, such as the Port of Silverdale and the county. We’re exploring how the property can best be used to improve Old Town Silverdale for our community.

By deepening our longstanding partnership, both of us can save long-term operating costs. We both have aging buildings that would be too expensive to repair. Funds previously planned for Jenne-Wright’s repair will be used for the renovation.

By sharing costs to reuse an existing community building, our schools and our community benefit.

Potentially renovated building could have CKSD administration on the top, the library at the ground floor, with meeting rooms and areas for community programs.
