Olympic staff and students cut the ribbon on stage

Hundreds of alumni, community members, students and staff gathered Thursday at Olympic High School to celebrate the new addition and modernization at their school.

A ribbon cutting ceremony on the new Olympic Hall stage marked the occasion.

Construction crews tore out the center of the school in 2017. They replaced with a two-story building filled with natural light, warm wood and tall ceilings.

This "heart" of Olympic contains modern classrooms for career and technical and general education, an expanded commons with easy access to a counseling and career center and a new library, a new 400-seat performing arts center, and a secure entrance. The former library was converted into classrooms. We also added a second building devoted to aviation and manufacturing on the Tibardis Road side of the school.

This work was done thanks to our community's support.

The project fulfills one of Central Kitsap Schools' major promises with the passage of a 2016 bond measure. Earlier this year, the district opened additions at Klahowya Secondary School. This spring, it will open a rebuilt Central Kitsap Middle. And this fall, a rebuild Central Kitsap High will open. In addition, safety and security improvements are complete or in the works at every school in the district.
