Would you like to help shape the short and long-term financial management of our district? We are seeking volunteers for our Budget Advisory Council.
Council Overview
Our new Budget Advisory Council will support and make recommendations to our superintendent and other district staff in the development, review, and revision of both short- and long-term financial management plans that support the mission and priorities described in our strategic plan.
Membership
The Budget Advisory Council membership will consist of:
- 19 parent/community members (one from each school) – appointed
- 6 community members at large – application
- 8 staff members – application
- 2 students - application
- 3 community organization members – appointed
- 3 union representatives (CKEA, CKESP, CKCA) – appointed
- 4 district administrators (elementary, middle, high school, and operations) – appointed
- 1 school board director, who will observe the meetings
Positions filled by application will typically have a two-year term. However, to establish a staggered rotation in this first year, half of the positions will be assigned a three-year term.
Meeting Details and Schedule
During the 2024-25 school year, members will meet on the following dates:
- Thursday, October 17, 2024, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, November 7, 2024, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, December 19, 2024, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, January 23, 2025, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, February 20, 2025, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, March 20, 2025, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Code of Conduct
The District Team and Committee Members agree to:
- Share differing points of view and engage in debate with care and respect
- Respect everyone’s time by starting and ending on schedule and staying on task
- Be patient when listening to others speak and not interrupt them
- We agree to create a safe, productive space for the open exchange of ideas and perspectives. Out of courtesy to all committee members, disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
Eligibility and Application Process
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be willing to attend and come prepared to all meetings during their term
- Have a student who attends CK Schools - OR - live or work within district boundaries
- Agree to the Budget Advisory Council Code of Conduct
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of district staff. The application deadline is Thursday, September 26, and we will notify all participants by Thursday, October 10.
