Pride Month June 2023 over a rainbow background

Central Kitsap Schools celebrates the contributions and achievements of LGBTQ individuals and their communities during Pride Month. The federal government first recognized Pride Month in June 1999 in honor of the Stonewall Uprising that started on June 28, 1969 and continues to do so, advocating for human rights for all. By honoring their dignity, LGBTQ+ individuals can live and thrive authentically as integral parts of our community.

For further learning:

  • PFLAG - provides support, information and resources for LGBTQ+ people, their families, and allies

  • The Trevor Project - provides support with information dealing with social isolation and other challenges for youth under 25

CK Schools continues to celebrate national history and heritage months as a district and in schools throughout the year.
