We are proud to announce that our transportation department has been honored with a Top Transportation Teams Award! This recognition, presented at the 2024 STN EXPO Reno Conference (July 12-17), highlights the exceptional work of our transportation employees.
The Top Transportation Teams Award Program was established to recognize outstanding student transportation departments across North America. Winners are determined based on anonymous surveys completed by team members, which are intended to provide an authentic view of each department’s operations and morale.
“We are thrilled to be named a Top Transportation Team for 2024,” said Kyle Johnson, director of logistics and operations. “We know that by prioritizing our culture of authenticity, trust, and ownership, we are able to best serve our students. It is our people that make us great, and we are proud to receive this recognition of their efforts.”
Central Kitsap School District was among just three winners in the category for districts with 100 or more team members. We share this honor with Franklin Township Community School Corporation in Indiana and the School District of Haverford Township in Pennsylvania.
Joe Vlach, executive director of safety and operations, attended the conference and participated in a panel discussion. He stressed the need for team feedback in refining roles and supporting employees. He also highlighted the importance of inspiring and investing in department leaders and top performers, asking “How are you growing your people?” (Mr. Vlach is featured at right in the accompanying photo, along with the award sponsor, Transfinder’s President and CEO Antonio Civitella.)
Our transportation team’s success is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to providing stellar service to our students and families. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
