Supporting Our AAPI Community
A Statement of Solidarity
Posted on 03/24/2021

Crimes targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) have increased since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. One study found that anti-Asian hate crimes rose by 149% across 16 of our country’s largest cities in 2020. Just as troubling, schools across the nation have also reported an increase in bullying against Asian American students.

We join our Asian American and Pacific Islander community in condemning and grieving these hate crimes and hateful incidents. Here in CK Schools, we are committed to protecting all students from bullying and harassment, and to taking swift action when it does occur. We do not and will not tolerate hatred, racism, or xenophobia in our schools.

We also encourage students and families to help us by reporting bullying as soon as possible to their principal. If you witness a hate incident or are the victim of a hate incident in our community, please call 911.

As a district, we will proudly share in the fight for justice and healing for the victims of bullying, harassment, and violence against AAPI communities—and together, we can stop it.
