Living in Kitsap
Living in Kitsap

The western Puget Sound region is considered one of the most livable parts of the country, and we’re in the heart of it all! Our area offers a balanced lifestyle with vibrant business and retail areas, excellent recreational opportunities and easy access to Seattle.

Affordability is a major attraction to living in Central Kitsap. Real estate prices are well below nearby King and Pierce counties, and our median household income ranks fifth in the state. We also boast state-of-the-art medical facilities and many community services.

Silverdale is the area’s business and retail hub, featuring excellent shopping, fine and casual dining, cultural events, and unique storefronts filled with local art and antiques. Those interested in an active lifestyle will find no end to their recreational choices. The area boasts nearly five miles of community-developed nature trails, as well as bike trails and miles of shorelines for kayaking. There’s also hiking, fishing and golfing. Pacific Coast beaches are a 2.5-hour drive to the west, while skiers and snowboarders can head east and find themselves on the slopes of the Cascades in even less time.

Our Supportive Community

Central Kitsap residents have a history of strong support for public education. They are proud of our outstanding reputation—and it shows! We’ve had a school levy in place for more than 20 years. This consistent investment in our schools ensures a well-rounded, quality education for our students.

While many in our community are lifelong residents and loyal alumni, we also have a large number of newer and more mobile residents who are highly involved in our schools. The Kitsap Peninsula is home to Naval Base Kitsap, the largest naval organization in Navy Region Northwest. As a result, nearly half of our students are federally connected.
