The U.S. Department of Agriculture supports access to healthy meals to all children, including children with disabilities who have special dietary needs. A disability is defined as an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. This can include allergies and digestive conditions, however it does not include personal diet preferences.
Each day, we provide menu options for students. Please check our meal menus and talk with your child about which choices are best.
Please understand that the Child Nutrition Department must follow certain guidelines when accommodating a student with allergies and digestive conditions and can only make accommodations when requests are accompanied by a completed Request for Special Dietary Accommodations Form (pdf). A licensed physician must sign the form. The form helps us understand your child’s medical need for a special diet, what foods your child cannot eat and what foods we should substitute. Please return the completed form to the Child Nutrition Program and communicate with your child's School Nurse
In addition to school nurses helping to ensure your child is safe, we also put this information into our electronic child nutrition system. The system notifies our Child Nutrition staff who prepare meals and who take payments.
If you have any questions, please call our Child Nutrition department at 360-662-1090.
