Central Kitsap Schools celebrates the contributions and achievements of LGBTQ individuals and their communities during Pride Month.

The federal government first recognized Pride Month in June 1999 in honor of the Stonewall Uprising that started on June 28, 1969, and continues to do so, advocating for human rights for all. By honoring their dignity, LGBTQ+ individuals can live and thrive authentically as integral parts of our community.

We highlight and celebrate national history and heritage months as a district and in schools throughout the year. This includes Black History Month (February); Women’s Heritage Month (March); Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Month (May); Pride Month (June); Hispanic/Latin(o/a/x) Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15); Disability History Month (October); and Native American Heritage Month (November).
